August 17, 2011 - Wednesday

We had a bright start to our day... we left the house about 5:30am and got into Silverton about 4:30pm.  We needed to get here before it got dark so we could see where we were camping.  We were a bit surprised with school back in session how many folks were still up here camping, but as time went on, reallized that most all of the big time RVs were full of folks like us - retired :) hee hee  The difference was how quiet it was - you didn't have 20  + quads leaving the campground all at once at 6 in the morning or before.  Most everyone left between 9 & 10 and it was just a few here and a few there.

The following pictures are some that I took on our way ... moslty between 4 Corners, Cortez and on our way towards Silverton, then finally the town of Silverton itself.

going through the indian territory up around 4 Corners
Same picture, just a close up of it ,,,

This was taken as we were getting fuel in Durango - couldn't resist the clouds forming

The following pictures were taken as we left Durango and were headed up to Silverton
no captions, just moutains and clouds

Here we are looking down into San Juan Valley of Silverton, Colorado
